ARTS 1301.   ART APPRECIATION.   Credits 3.

Discusses theoretical, cultural and historical aspects of the visual arts. Develops visual and aesthetic awareness, relating art to the student as an individual.



ECON 2301.   PRINCIPLES OF MACROECONOMICS.   Credits 3.

Surveys macroeconomic theory and public policy. Emphasizes the market economy, economic growth and measurement, role of financial markets, aggregate demand and supply, the role of the Federal Reserve System and government in our economy.



ECON 2302.   PRINCIPLES OF MICROECONOMICS.   Credits 3.

Surveys basic microeconomic principles. Emphasizes topics of market structures, consumer theory, elasticity, production cost theory, wage determination, anti-trust and general equilibrium.



ENGL 1301.   EXPOSITORY ENGLISH COMPOSITION.   Credits 3.

Emphasizes practice in all stages of the writing process. Focuses on effectively written essays, with increased attention to audience, purpose, and rhetorical, strategy in both reading and writing. To enroll into this course you must have been admitted to the El Paso Community College, passed the Writing section of Accuplacer®
Test, and be cleared by a EPCC Counselor.



ENGL 1302.   RESEARCH AND CRITICAL WRITING.  Credits 3.

Continues emphasis on the writing process with particular attention to the methods of research and the appreciation and interpretation of literature. Focuses on effectively written and appropriately documented papers. To enroll into this course you must have been admitted to the El Paso Community College, passed the Writing section of Accuplacer®
Test, be cleared by a EPCC Counselor, and have completed ENGL 1301.



GOVT 2305.   AMERICAN GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS.   Credits 3.

Surveys the basic concepts of the American national government, the theory of democracy, the structure and function of political institutions, and contemporary issues and policies. Emphasizes the U.S. Constitution. To enroll into this course you must have been admitted to the El Paso Community College, passed the Reading section of Accuplacer®
Test, and be cleared by a EPCC Counselor.



GOVT 2306.   STATE AND LOCAL GOVERNMENT.   Credits 3.

Studies the state as subsystems of the American political system. Includes the basic functions, structures, and processes of state and local government with special reference to the Texas constitution. To enroll into this course you must have been admitted to the El Paso Community College, passed the Reading section of Accuplacer®
Test, and be cleared by a EPCC Counselor.



HIST 1301.   HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES TO 1865.  Credits 3.

Surveys United States history through the Civil War, emphasizing the European background, colonial contributions, Revolution of 1776, republican government, growth of democracy, social and cultural trends, role of minorities and background and course of the Civil War. To enroll into this course you must have been admitted to the El Paso Community College, passed the Reading section of Accuplacer®

HIST 1302.   HISTORY OF THE UNITED STATES SINCE 1865.   Credits 3.

Surveys Reconstruction, the rise of big business, clash of economic interests, struggle for reform, imperialism and world power status, Progressivism, World War I, Twenties, New Deal, World War II, postwar U.S., changing role of the laborer, social and cultural trends and role of minorities. PHIL 1301.   INTRODUCTION TO PHILOSOPHY.   Credits 3.

Introduces the nature of philosophical problems and the ideas of central figures in the history of philosophy. The student learns to analyze and critically evaluate philosophical arguments.



PSYC 2301.   INTRODUCTION TO PSYCHOLOGY.   Credits 3.

Examines the scientific study of behavior and mental processes through facts, theories, and research finding. Focuses on the individuals rather than society or culture. Emphasizes how the field can be used in understanding the current changes in our world. SOCI 1301.   INTRODUCTORY SOCIOLOGY.   Credits 3.

Introduces the basic elements of society such as culture, personality, social groups, social institutions, the social process and the structure of society.
