Welcome to the Microeconomics Page in the Social Science Department at Cathedral High School.
Economics is a social science that examines how people choose among the alternatives available to them. Whether you would like better grades, more time to relax, more spending money for entertainment, or the like, those things that you might want all require you to make choices.
Microeconomics is the branch of economics that focuses on the choices made by consumers and firms and the impacts those choices have on individual markets.
A Cathedral student who ultimately majors in economics in college will be prepared for jobs in businesses, financial firms, government agencies, and nonprofit organizations. The student will also be well prepared for advanced degrees in business, economics, law, public administration, and other social science. The economics major also complements learning in other areas of business and the liberal arts.
This course is part of the Cathedral College Early Admissions Program. Successful completion of this course earns the Cathedral student three hours college-credit. It is not a dual credit course in that the grade earned by the Cathedral students for the college course is not the grade earn for any high school economics requirement.
