1. Compare the issues emphasized by the two major parties and at least tow minor parties at their Web sites. Are any issues common to all? If more than one party addresses an issue, do the specific policies that the parties advocate differ? What kinds of voters would be most attracted to each party? Least attractive? 2. Identify the U.S. Senate seats that will be on the ballot in the next congressional election. Devise for either the Democractic or Republican party's senatorial campaign committee a campaign startegy memo that identifies the states where the campaigns promise to be the most competitive. Can you suggest any campaign themes or legislative priorities that would help the party's electoral prospects? 3. Minor parties have often highlighted issues or policy proposals that became popular enough to be adopted by the major parties. Visit the Web sites of several minor parties. Do any of them have issues that could become popular enough to be adopted by the Democrats or Republicans? Which major party would be more likely to adopt those issues? Would there be major electoral or policy conseqauences if the issues were adopted by a major party? Why or why not?
