| 1. Identify an issue
that interests you. Determine whether or not any legislation relating
to your issue is currently before Congress. If not, choose another issue
until you find one that involves action in Congress. How many bills
have been introduced? Where are they in the legislative process?
Have there been any recorded votes, either in committee or on the floor?
Have there been any hearings or presidential statements regarding the bill(s)?
2. Choose a member of Congress and create a brief summary of that member's campaign fundraising activities. Identify at least one source of funds that might be a political liability for that member of Congress. 3. Compare the legislative agenda of the Democratic and Republican parties in Congress. Do they share any goals? Do they agree on any specific means to achieving those goals? 4. Write a brief campaign memo targeting an incumbent member of Congress. Use evidence from his or her voting record and data about this member's district to generate specific issues that might hurt the incumbent in a bid for reelection.
