Cathedral High School

I’m proud to be a member of the class of 2004. My decision to attend CHS has proven to be one of the best choices I’ve made. Cathedral provided an excellent academic environment with a focus on faith and spirituality. As a student, I participated in KCHS, the theater program and numerous volunteer activities. After graduation, I attended Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism. I graduated in 2008 and went on to become a television reporter in Gainesville, Florida. I then worked for PBS in Washington, D.C. for several years and later as a freelance news producer in San Francisco.

I now live in Denver, Colorado with my fiancée. I’ve also recently followed my passion and transitioned into the food and hospitality industry. I’m currently working to become a manager at a local Chipotle Mexican Grill, which is headquartered in Denver. My high school and college education provided me with the skill set to make this career change. At Cathedral, I received a well-rounded education that carried into my liberal arts curriculum at Northwestern.
The great thing about Cathedral is that it brings together students from all across the borderland. I was able to meet and study alongside individuals I may have never met had I attended a public school closer to home. These experiences led to strong friendships that I maintain to this day.

“What are you proudest of?”
I’m proudest of my family. I’ve been blessed to have their constant love and support. They’ve always stood in my corner and continue to help me grow to be a better person.

“What lesson from Cathedral do you carry with you?”
To this day, I get so many comments about my use of ‘yes ma’am’ or ‘yes sir’ in daily conversations. This simple act of respect is something I credit to Cathedral. It was here that being courteous to all was really stressed. This lesson is something I carry with me each and every day.

“Do you have a message (lesson/observation) for a current Cathedral student?”
It’s very important to challenge yourself and step out of your comfort zone. You’ll realize your full potential by embracing new experiences and not feeling like you have to follow one path. Life is full of possibilities and you owe it to yourself to take in as many as you can.
